During 2014 and 2015, my husband had a Fullbright fellowship to study at the University of Oslo. Towards the end of his time there we decided to spend a weekend in Denmark, staying at a charming hotel in Copenhagen.
Unlike Norway with its majestic mountains, Denmark is a flat country with many lakes. But that doesn’t mean that it isn’t an attractive country with much to offer. Of course there are palaces and castles. There are wonderful parks like the famous Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. And then there is their Viking past. During our visit to Roskilde, the ancient royal capital of Denmark, my husband and I were lucky enough to witness a Viking ship sailing into port.
If you don’t know Scandinavia, you might try visiting Denmark first. It is a very civilized country whose people know how to enjoy themselves!

I went to Denmark in 1996 and 2001 and I loved it.
It’s lovely isn’t it? While I was in Copenhagen, I made sure to visit all the famous bakeries and pastry shops!
We visited a couple too, but we were on institutional per diem, since we were in official mission, attending training courses…
That’s too bad. What courses were you taking?
